Staff Reporter:

Last Wednesday morning, a group of criminals carried out a terrorist attack targeting the family of a gentleman named Tareq Mahmud in the Arshinagar area of Bosila New Gas Road, Mohammadpur, Dhaka.

At the time of the incident, the head of the family, Tareq Mahmud, was not at home. Enraged by his absence, the attackers vandalized the house and physically and mentally harassed his wife, Munera Sultana, and daughter, Tashfia Tabassum Koael. They also verbally abused and threatened the relatives present at the scene.

The injured victims received primary treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka.

According to the family members, the attackers were searching for Tareq Mahmud. Failing to find him, they threatened his wife, Munera Sultana, saying, “Wherever we find Tareq, we will kill him.” They also warned that if any complaint or case was filed with the police station or court, the entire family would be killed.

As a result of these death threats, Munera and Tashfia Koeal became terrified. During the attack, furniture and various household items were vandalized. The violent incident created panic in the area.

The family stated that they are currently living in fear and insecurity and requested the authorities to identify and arrest the attackers.

When Munera Sultana went to Bosila Police Station to file a complaint, the responsible officer allegedly kept her waiting for a long time and advised her to go to court instead of accepting the case.
