In the capital’s New Paltan Line area near Azimpur, while getting into a car in front of the office of Media of Rural Generation, the organization’s President, Tarek Mahmud, was suddenly attacked by a group of unidentified assailants wearing helmets. According to eyewitnesses, “As soon as Tarek Mahmud came out of the office of Media of Rural Generation, several individuals surrounded him. They verbally abused him over election monitoring activities, struck him in the face, and began beating him indiscriminately.” He was immediately taken to a hospital’s emergency department in a bloodied condition. Masud Parvez, Director of Media of Rural Generation, stated that when they contacted the police immediately regarding the matter, they received no assistance, and the nearby Lalbagh Police Station refused to file a case. He is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital.
